Komatsu — INDICATOR LIGHT SYMBOLS

Operation - Section 32 OM3223 Page 32-18 Operator Cab and Controls INDICATOR LIGHT SYMBOLS Indicator Lights which are amber in color alert the operator that the indicated truck function requires some precaution when lighted. Indicator Lights which are red in color alert the opera- tor that the indicated truck function requires immedi- ate action by the operator. Safely stop the truck and shut down the engine. If the low steering warning light continues to illu- minate and the alarm continues to sound, low steering pressure is indicated. The remaining pressure in the accumulators allows the operator to control the truck to a stop.

Do not attempt fur- ther operation until the malfunction is located and corrected. Do not operate the truck with a red warning light illuminated. C1. Low Accumulator Precharge Pressure Refer to Figure 32-12 and the descriptions below for explanations of the symbols. Location of the symbols is described by rows (A-E) and columns (1 - 8). The low accumulator precharge warning light, if illuminated, indi- cates low nitrogen precharge for the steering accumulator(s). To check for proper accumulator nitrogen precharge, the engine must be stopped and the hydrau- lic system completely bled down. Then, turn the key switch to the RUN position.

The warning light will not illuminate if the system is prop- erly charged. The warning light will flash if the nitro- gen precharge within the accumulator(s) is below 7585 ± 310 kPa (1100 ± 45 psi). A1. High Hydraulic Oil Temper- ature This warning light indicates high oil temperature in the hydraulic tank. Continued operation could damage components in the hydraulic system. Notify mainte- nance personnel immediately. The light turns on at 107° C (225° F). B1. Low Steering Pressure When the key switch is turned ON, the low steering pressure warning light will illuminate until the steering system hydraulic pressure reaches 14.7 MPa (2100 psi).

The warning buzzer will also turn on, and both will remain on, until the accumulator has been charged. If the low accumulator precharge warning light flashes, notify maintenance personnel. Do not attempt further operation until the accumulators have been recharged with nitrogen to 9653 kPa (1400 psi). Sufficient energy for emergency steer- ing may not be available if the system is not properly charged. During truck operation, the low steering pressure warning light and warning horn will turn sound if the steering system hydraulic pressure drops below 14.7 MPa (2100 psi).

If the light illuminates momentarily (flickers) while turning the steering wheel at low truck speed and low engine rpm, this may be considered normal, and truck operation may continue. If the indicator light illuminates at higher truck speed and high engine rpm, do not operate the truck.
