omron — Mounting Procedure

3.5 Mounting the Robot NOTE: On the left side of the base (viewed from above, from the robot interface panel) is a round hole, and on the right side is a slot. These should be used with user-supplied 5 mm dia. positioning pins in the mounting surface. The hole and slot in the robot base are shown in the preceding two figures. Note that the first drawing is looking up from underneath the robot base. Using positioning pins improves the ability to remove and reinstall the robot in the same position. See the preceding figure for the dimensions of the mounting and positioning holes in the robot base. 1. Drill four M12 bolt holes for machine bolts (user-supplied).

You can either tap these for the bolts, or you can drill thru-holes, and use nuts and washers on the other side of the mounting surface. 2. Drill two dowel pin holes, dia. 5 mm H7, for the positioning pins. 3. Install two user-supplied positioning pins into the two dia. 5 H7 holes in the mounting surface. Mounting Procedure NOTE: It is assumed that you have removed the upper shell of the crate, and now have just the robot and related items on the shipping pallet. ! WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY/PROPERTY DAMAGE Do not remove the red shipping brackets or move the robot arms until the robot has been secured to its mounting surface.

Failure to comply could result in the robot falling and causing either personnel injury or property damage. 1. Remove all of the boxes from the shipping pallet, leaving just the robot bolted to the pal- let. These will include the box containing the eMB-40M and a box containing the SmartCon- troller EX, if you ordered one. 2. Remove the four bolts securing the robot base to the pallet. One person should support the robot while another person removes the bolts. 3. With two people, lift the robot and position it directly over the mounting surface. The robots weigh approximately 30 to 33 kg (66 to 73 lb) , including the factory-installed cables, with no options installed. ! WARNING:

PERSONAL INJURY. Two people should lift and mount the robot. See the following figure. 24 Cobra 450, 500, and 650 User's Guide 19148-000 Rev. E
