L-4733A/L-4733AW Operation Guide Safety Instructions and Notes on Usage ❏ Do not bend the substrate or scratch the printable surface of the substrate. ❏ Do not touch the printable surface of the substrate. Moisture and oil from hands can have an adverse effect on the print quality. ❏ Handle the substrate by the edges. Whenever possible, use cotton gloves to handle media. ❏ Depending on the type of substrate, if the substrate is fed into the press and left for an extended period, the roller for the web guide system creates creases on the substrate. When the substrate passes over the platen, the substrate may peel away from the separator causing tunnel-like creases.
If printing is performed while the substrate is creased, the crease may touch the head which could cause the nozzles to clog or the head to malfunction. When using a substrate for the first time, check that no tunnel-like creases have formed. When a substrate prone to creases is fed and left for an extended period (more than two hours), press the Feed switch on the control panel until the creases in the substrate pass over the platen before printing. Also, make sure that the substrate does not touch the head while printing. ❏ When printing on the separator side, make sure you check the print results, print quality, and that there are no visible creases before you start printing.
❏ When printing on both sides, the side printed first may be damaged. Check the print quality before you start printing on both sides. 17
