GS400/300 – OUTLINE OF NEW FEATURES 16 GS400/300 OUTLINE OF NEW FEATURES The GS400/300 is truly a driver’s car of the highest dimension. Its combination of style and function give the car a nimble and solid form and impart a progressive and sophisticated image. The following changes have been made for the 2000 model year. 1. Interior Equipment Three tether anchor brackets for mounting the CRS (Child Restraint System) are provided on the package tray trim. 2. 2JZ-GE Engine As in the ’00 SC300, the valve timing of the intake valves has been changed. For details, see page 14 . To support the LEV, the shape of the exhaust manifold has been changed.
To support the LEV, the sub muffler has been discontinued, and the underfloor converter has been added. An engine cover that covers the top of the engine has been provided for improved looks. 3. Automatic Transmission The park/neutral position switch has been made more compact. 4. Brakes A brake assist system to ensure enough braking force in emergencies has been abopted. This system adds pressure with the hydraulic brake booster accumulator. The basic operation is the same as in the ’00 LS400. For details, see page 7 . 5. Suspension The shapes of the No.2 lower arm and the bushing of the front suspension have been changed. 6.
SRS Airbag The inflator for the driver has been changed to a more compact and lightweight type.
