USING ACCUMULATORS USING ACCUMULATORS PRECAUTIONS FOR MAINTENANCE The accumulators are on the right inside of the rear frame under the center platform. A The accumulators are filled with highly pressurized nitrogen. To avoid explosions, observe the following precautions. Never strike a charged accumula- tor or expose it to flames. Never weld piping to or cut open- ing in an accumulator. Never overhaul or dispose of an accumulator without first bleed- ing out all the nitrogen through the air bleeder valve. * Always handle an accumulator with the utmost care! If accumulators breakdown or have trouble, immediately ask your Komatsu distributor to make the repairs.
* Have your Komatsu distributor check the gas pressure once a year! Only Komatsu personnel and those licensed to service high pressure equipment may re- charge an accumulator with nitrogen. - 38 - ww -02031
