Replica 1 plus Users Manual Chapter 6: Using the USB to Serial Interface With the previous versions of the replica 1, setting up the serial port was just a matter of setting up Hyper- Terminal which came with Windows. With more recent versions of Windows, Hyper-Terminal is no longer included with Windows. We now will demonstrate how to set up a connection using Tera Term, a free terminal emulation program. Connect your replica 1 to your PC/Mac with a USB cable. Turn the replica 1 and the driver software should be found and installed automatically. Download and install Tera Term on your Windows machine, you can use Zterm on a Mac.

Once you have installed Tera Term on your system, start the program up. Change the default connection from TCP/IP to Serial and select the new COMM port that should have installed when you connected the replica 1 to your computer. See figure 11 for what your program should look like. Figure 11: Setting up a new connection Click on OK and your connection is started. You still have some settings to adjust before you can communicate with the replica 1. Click on the Setup TAB and select Serial Port.
