Komatsu — CYLINDER PRESSURE

OM2221 8/11 Safety - Section 22 Page 22-3 RADIATOR CYLINDER PRESSURE A warning plate is mounted on top of the radiator surge tank cover near the radiator cap. The engine cooling system is pressurized. Always turn the key switch OFF and allow the engine to cool before removing the radiator cap. Unless the pressure is first released, removing the radiator cap after the engine has been running for a time will result in hot coolant being expelled from the radiator. Serious scalding and burning may result.

These danger plates are mounted on the outside of each frame rail to remind technicians to read the warning labels attached to the side of each of the accumulators (see below) before releasing internal nitrogen pressure or disconnecting any hydraulic lines or hardware. There are similar decals mounted on top of each of the accumulators (both steering and brake) with the same danger message. CRUSHING HAZARD This danger plate is attached to all four suspensions. It contains instructions for releasing internal pressure before disconnecting any hardware. Serious injury can occur if these directions are not followed.

Warning plates are mounted on the frame in front of both front tires and to the rear of both front tires. They warn that the clearances change when the truck is steered and could cause serious injury. Warning plates are attached to both the hydraulic tank and fuel tank to alert technicians not to work on the truck with the body in the raised position unless the body-up sling is in position.
