The engine information plate is located on the top of the cylinder head (valve) cover. This plate includes information in English and French concerning the following items. Code letters under Exhaust Emission Control Systems represent basic engine systems that impact emissions. They are taken from the following list.
Engine family, model and serial number CAC — Charge Air Cooler Displacement, horsepower, fuel rate, idle speed and engine brake DI — Direct Injection Emissions regulations to which the engine conforms and other pertinent information required by emissions regulations DPF — Diesel Particulate Filter EC — Engine Control Valve lash settings for inlet, exhaust and engine brake EGR — Exhaust Gas Recirculation EM — Engine Modification TC — Turbocharger 2 Figure 2 — Engine Information Plate Engine Serial Number Identification In addition to the engine information plate on the cylinder head cover, the engine is also identified by the engine serial number stamped into the cylinder block.
