SAFETY SAFETY MACHINE OPERATION q Check the following points to confirm that the floor is fixed securely in position. If it is not fixed securely in position, this may lead to serious personal injury. q Open the engine rear cover and check that 6 floor tilt lock bolts (1) are tightened securely. q If there is any up-and-down play in the floor plate, or if clearance (A) is too large (normal: approx. 5 mm (0.197in)), lock bolts (1) may be broken or loose, so check lock bolts (1). If any abnormality is found, always carry out repairs your self or ask your Komatsu distributor to carry out repairs. SAFETY RULES FOR STARTING ENGINE q Start and operate the machine only while seated.
q Do not attempt to start the engine by short-circuiting the engine starting circuit. Such an act may cause a seri ous bodily injury or fire. q When starting the engine, sound the horn as a warning. q Do not allow anyone apart from the operator to ride on the machine. STARTING ENGINE IN COLD WEATHER q Carry out the warming-up operation thoroughly. If the machine is not thoroughly warmed up before the control levers are operated, the reaction of the machine will be slow, and this may lead to unexpected accidents. q If the battery electrolyte is frozen, do not charge the battery or start the engine with a different power source.
There is a hazard that this will ignite the battery and cause the battery to explode. Before charging or starting the engine with a different power source, melt the battery electrolyte and check that there is no leakage of electrolyte before starting. 2-21
