7. PRECAUTIONS DURING OPERATION WARNING: Failure to follow these safety precautions may lead to a serious accident. 1-13 WORKING ON LOOSE GROUND ‡ Do not operate the machine on soft ground. It is difficult to get the machine out again. ‡ Avoid operating your machine too close to the edge of cliffs, overhangs, and deep ditches. If these areas collapse under the mass or vibration of your machine, it could fall or tip over and this could result in serious injury or death. Remember that the soil after heavy rain, blasting, or earthquakes is weakened in these areas. ‡ Earth laid on the ground and the soil near ditches is loose.
It can collapse under the mass or vibration of your machine and cause your machine to tip over. ‡ Install the ROPS and wear the seat belt when working in areas where there is danger of falling rocks or of the machine turning over. WHEN RAISING DUMP BODY ‡ Stop the dump truck at the correct position, and check that there is no person or object behind the machine. Give the determined signal, then slowly operate the dump body. If necessary, use blocks for the wheels or position a flagman. ‡ When carrying out dumping operations on slopes, the machine stability will become poor and there is danger that it may tip over. Always carry out such operations extremely carefully.
‡ Do not travel with the body raised. WHEN DUMPING ‡ Before starting the dumping operation, check that there is no person or object behind the machine. ‡ Stop the machine in the correct position, and check again that there is no person or object behind the machine. Give the determined signal, then slowly operate the dump body. If necessary, use blocks for the wheels or position a flagman. ‡ When carrying out dumping operations on slopes, the machine stability will become poor and there is danger that it may tip over. Always carry out such operations extremely carefully. ‡ Do not load the dump body while it is still raised. ‡ When dumping large rocks, operate the dump body slowly.
