Break-in Procedure New ATV and renewed ATV engi- nes require a „break-in“ period. The fi rst month is most critical to the life of this ATV. Proper operation during this break-in period will help assu- re maximum life and performance from the ATV. for excessively long periods of time. only activates the parking/auxiliary brake which must not be used as service brake. During the break-in period, you should not use more than Ѕ thrott- le. Short acceleration manoeuvres and riding at different velocities provide an optimum break-in of the engine. After the completion of the break- in period, the engine oil and oil fi lter should be changed.
Other maintenance after break-in should include checking of all prescribed adjustments and tightening of all fasteners. Your Arctic Cat ATV dea- ler will be pleased to do this initial service. During the fi rst 10 hours of operati- on, always use less than Ѕ throttle. Varying the engine RPM during the break-in period aids the engine/ transmission component mating process. Although it is essential to place some stress on the engine components during break-in, care should be taken not to overload the engine too often. Do not pull a trai- ler during the break-in period. During the break-in period you must also burnish brake pads (hydraulic brake) to achieve full braking effectiveness.
To properly burnish the brakes, use the follo- wing procedure: BRAKE BURNISHING PROCE- DURE When the engine starts, allow it to warm up properly. Idle the engine several minutes until the engine has reached normal operating tem- perature. Do not idle the engine The service brake is activated by the foot pedal (according to direc- tive 93/14A EC homologation) or via the left hand brake lever (both hydraulic).
