SPC Network Guide Using Product via Network Note: ❏ This feature is not available for all products or the feature may not be enabled. ❏ Windows computers can set up a direct connection by using the installer on the software disc. If the product supports Wi-Fi Direct, the product connects using Wi-Fi Direct. Wi-Fi Direct One of the following modes is selected automatically depending on your product’s network environment. Access point mode : If your product is not connected to any available wireless networks, the product enters access point mode and then connects to your device by using a device that has a Wi-Fi function. In access point mode, the product acts as an access point.
Peer-to-peer mode : If your product is already connected to an available wireless network, the product enters peer-to-peer mode and then connects to your device. The product connects to a device in peer-to-peer mode if your device is compatible with Wi-Fi Direct. If your product does not support Wi-Fi Direct, the product connects using this mode but you need to enter a password. Note: ❏ By using Web Config, you can limit connections in peer-to-peer mode to Wi-Fi Direct compatible devices only. However, you may not be able to print from devices running Windows 8.
