Network Guide Using Product via Network Note: ❏ This feature is not available for all products or the feature may not be enabled. ❏ Windows computers can set up a direct connection by using the installer on the software disc. If the product supports Wi-Fi Direct, the product connects using Wi-Fi Direct. Wi-Fi Direct One of the following modes is selected automatically depending on your product’s network environment. Access point mode : If your product is not connected to any available wireless networks, the product enters access point mode and then connects to your device by using a device that has a Wi-Fi function. In access point mode, the product acts as an access point.
Peer-to-peer mode : If your product is already connected to an available wireless network, the product enters peer-to-peer mode and then connects to your device. The product connects to a device in peer-to-peer mode if your device is compatible with Wi-Fi Direct. If your product does not support Wi-Fi Direct, the product connects using this mode but you need to enter a password. Note: ❏ By using Web Config, you can limit connections in peer-to-peer mode to Wi-Fi Direct compatible devices only. For more details on making Web Config settings, see “Web Page Embedded in the Product” on page 21 or refer to your product’s documentation.

The shape and location of the icon varies depending on the model.
