This allows for efficient regulation of the battery temperature via direct cooling and direct heating of the refrigerant, increasing the thermal efficiency by up to 20% while reducing energy loss. The heat pump can withstand temperatures from -30°C to 60°C, and leverages the residual heat from surroundings, the electric powertrain, the passenger compartment and the battery pack. It can even use the waste heat to control the passenger compartment temperature, to further reduce energy consumption and optimise range. 21
