STARTING AND DRIVING Warning! 01 Visual warning, risk of collision with vehicles/pedestrians ahead ■ The warning level set determines the system's responsiveness and sets the distance at which visual and audible warnings will be triggered. To help make FCW as effective as possible, the HIGH sensitivity level is recommended. ■ Even if the setting HIGH has been selected, warnings may be perceived as being given late, such as when the difference in speed is great or if the vehicle ahead brakes suddenly. VESPER 02 Audible warning signal Warning! ■ FCW can provide a warning for a potential collision but it can never shorten your reaction time.
■ FCW is a supplementary aid and cannot deal with all situations or road conditions. You are always responsible for driving safely and complying with current laws and traffic regulations. Forward Collision Warning (FCW) FCW is intended to alert you if your vehicle is about to crash into a vehicle ahead, or pedestrians. FCW works together with AEB . The vehicle automatically brakes if you are unable to react quickly enough. Auto emergency braking (AEB) (with pedestrian identification) AEB can take measures to help you avoid or mitigate collisions. Normally, AEB will not be triggered unless there is an imminent danger of a collision.
When the AEB function is triggered, it carries out in the following ways: ■ Collision warnin g: When FCW is activated, you will be alerted by a visual and audible warning signal if there is a potential collision with the vehicle or pedestrians. ■ Cadence braking : if the risk of collision increases, you will be reminded to take safety measures through cadence braking. ■ Automatic braking : If there is an imminent danger of a collision, auto-braking will be triggered.
