Measure the resistance between pin 1# and pin 2# of the sensor with a multimeter.
Does the resistance match with its temperature (refer to relevant part of the manual)? Yes Next step No Replace sensor 4 Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor from the harness. Measure the voltage between pin 1# and pin 2# with a multimeter. Is the voltage about 5V? Yes Go to step 5 No Next step 5 Check for short to the ground between pin 17#, 40# of the ECU and the pin 1#, 2# of the sensor with a multimeter. Yes Repair or replace harness No Next step 6 Start the engine, and keep idle speed. Check the “intake air temperature” on the diagnostic instrument. At this moment, the temperature will increase with the rise of the engine intake air temperature.
