SC-B9580 User's Guide Introduction C Do not remove the bulk ink solution securing section except when instructed to do so in the manual. ❏ If the operation above cannot be performed, a service engineer must perform pre- and post-maintenance. Depending on your region, pre- and post-maintenance may require a fee. Moreover, depending on the environment and length of time stored, repairs may be required during post-maintenance even if pre-maintenance is done. If repairs are necessary, they may require a fee depending on your region. Contact your dealer or Epson Support. D Do not remove the ink tube connector cover except when instructed to do so in the manual.

If sufficient care is not taken when removing or touching the inside of the printer, malfunctions could occur due to static electricity or poor connection to the bulk ink solution. ❏ If you have not used the printer for a long time, check the print head for clogging before you start printing. Perform Head Cleaning if the print head is clogged. U “How to Print a Nozzle Check Pattern” on page 72 ❏ When storing this printer in an environment below -10˚C(14˚F), be sure to perform Keeping Preparation from the Settings menu. Storing the printer without performing this procedure may damage the print head.

U “Pre-maintenance when Storing in Environments Below -10˚C (14˚F)” on page 73 ❏ The pressure rollers may crease media left in the printer. The media may also become wavy or curled, causing jams or resulting in the media coming into contact with the print head. Remove the media before putting the printer in storage. After removing the media, move the media loading lever to the front. Notes when not using the printer If you are not using it, note the following points when storing the printer. If it is not stored correctly, you may not be able to print properly the next time it is used.

❏ Store the printer after confirming that the print head has been capped (the print head is positioned at the far right). If the print head is left uncapped for a long time, the print quality may decline. ❏ If you do not print for a long time, the print head nozzles may become dried out and clogged. Turn the printer on at least once every four weeks to prevent the print head clogging. (This is not necessary if Keeping Preparation is performed from the Settings menu.) Head Cleaning is performed automatically after the printer is turned on and started. Do not turn the printer off until Head Cleaning is complete.

Leaving the printer for too long without turning it on may result in a malfunction. If repairs are necessary, they may require a fee depending on your region. Note: ❏ If the print head is not capped, turn the printer on, and then turn it off. ❏ When Keeping Preparation is performed, capping is not executed. Store the printer in an uncapped state after performing this procedure. 25
