volkswagen — Troubleshooting for Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator

The Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator must be re- synchronised under the following conditions: – Re-synchronise the Tyre Pressure Loss Indica- tor → page 184. – If the tyre pressures have been changed. – If the fault persists, go to a correspondingly qualified workshop. Volkswagen recommends using a Volkswagen dealership. – If one or more wheels have been changed. – If the wheels are swapped over, e.g. from front to rear. WARNING The Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator may only be re- synchronised if all the tyres have been filled at the correct tyre pressure when measured on a cold tyre.

To measure the cold tyre pressure, the vehicle must have been stationary for 3 hours or driven only a few kilometres at a slow speed dur- ing this time. Different tyre pressure or too low tyre pressure may cause tyre failure, vehicle out of control, easy to cause casualties! ● Stop as soon as the light is  on and check the condition of all tyres. → page 186 If the electronic stability program or anti- lock braking system is faulty, Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator will not work. → page 132 ● Different or low tyre pressure is bound to ag- gravate tyre wear, reduce vehicle stability, prolong the braking distance.

● Tyres with different or lower air pressure can suddenly malfunction, causing the tyre to burst and the vehicle to lose control. After a warning about the tyre pressure be- ing too low, switch the ignition off and then back on again. This is necessary before you can adapt the Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator again.  ● The driver must ensure that the correct air pressure is maintained on all tyres. The tyre pressure plate lists the prescribed tyre pres- sure. → page 189 Troubleshooting for Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator ● The tyre pressure monitoring system can function properly when all cold tyres main- tain correct pressure. ● All tyre pressure must be properly adjusted for vehicle load.

→ page 189  Please refer to at the start of the chapter on page 183.  Low tyre pressure The indicator lamp lights up yellow. ● Make sure all tyres are charged to the correct air pressure before driving. → page 189 ● If the tyre pressure is too low, it is possible that the tyre temperature will increase to such an extent when driving that the tread peels off and the tyre bursts. There is a loss of pressure in one or more tyres or the tyre is structurally damaged. ● Excessive speeds and overloading of the ve- hicle can cause overheating and sudden tyre damage including tyre bursts. –  Do not drive on! – Check and adjust the tyre pres- sures. → page 189 – Replace the damaged tyre.

● Whether the tyre pressure is too high or too low, the tyres will wear prematurely and the car will not handle well. – Re-synchronise the Tyre Pressure Loss Indica- tor → page 184. – If the fault persists, go to a correspondingly qualified workshop. Volkswagen recommends using a Volkswagen dealership.  Fault in the Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator The indicator lamp flashes for about 10 seconds and then remains lit continuously yellow. ● If the tyre is not flat and it is not necessary to change the wheel immediately, drive at low speed to the nearest correspondingly qualified workshop and have the tyre pres- sure checked and corrected.

→ page 186 ● Always adapt the Tyre Pressure Loss Indica- tor correctly. Driving on unpaved roads for long periods or a sporty driving style can temporarily de- activate the Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator. In the  182.5C1.TRO.74 There is a system fault. –  Do not drive on! – Switch the ignition off and on. Wheels and tyres 185
