– Climatronic: Press the button on the air conditioner panel. Operating the seat heating – press the button or in the air condition- ing block to switch on the seat heating with the highest temperature setting. – Climatic: Turn the air distribution regulator to . – Press the button or repeatedly to the po- sition needed. Lack of a fresh air supply can lead to restricted visibility (due to misted-up windows) and quicker driver fatigue (due to stale air). This can lead to collisions and accidents and cause se- vere or fatal injuries. WARNING – Press the button or until no LED is lit to switch the seat heating off.
When the ignition is switched off, the seat heat- ing is switched off simultaneously. The most re- cent temperature setting for the driver seat is switched on automatically if you start the engine again within approximately 10 minutes. Switch the passenger side seat heating on after the igni- tion is switched on, if necessary. ● Use air recirculation mode for a short period only. Otherwise, the fresh air cannot enter the vehicle interior. ● If the air conditioning cooling system is closed or if you driving in cold areas, conden- sation will form very quickly on the windows, greatly reducing visibility. When should the seat heating be switched off?
Switch off the seat heating if one of the follow- ing conditions applies: ● Switch off the air recirculation mode as soon as it is no longer required. NOTICE – A person with reduced sensitivity to pain or temperature is sitting on the seat → . For models equipped with air conditioning sys- tem, never smoke in the vehicle after the air re- circulation mode is switched on. Otherwise, to- bacco smoke can leave a residue on both the evaporator of the air conditioning system and the inhanced air filter with activated carbon, produc- ing a lasting unpleasant odour. – The seat is not occupied. – A protective cover is equipped. – A child seat is installed on the seat.
– The seat cushion is damp or wet. – The temperature in the vehicle interior or the outside temperature is above +25°C. When reversing the vehicle or when the wash and wipe system is being used, switch on the air recirculation mode to prevent odours from entering the vehicle interior. Anyone with reduced sensitivity to pain or tem- perature due to medication, paralysis or chronic illness (e.g. diabetes) could sustain burns on the back, buttocks and legs when using the seat heating. These burns may take a long time to heal or may never heal fully. Thus, it is necessa- ry to check your own state of health before us- ing the seat heating.
WARNING If the outside temperature is very high, brief activation of air recirculation mode helps to cool the vehicle interior more quickly. Seat heating ● Never use the seat heating if you have re- duced sensitivity to pain or temperature. Please refer to and at the start of the chapter on page 84. Wet seat cushions can cause a malfunctions in the seat heating and increase the risk of burns. WARNING When the engine is running, the seat surface and backrest can be electrically heated. ● Ensure that the seat cushion is dry before us- ing the seat heating. 182.5C1.TRO.74 ● Do not sit on the seat in damp or wet cloth- ing.
