EXPLANATION OF COMPONENTS OPERATION HANDLING ACCUMULATOR The accumulator is charged with high-pressure nitrogen gas, so mistaken operation may cause an explo- sion which will lead to serious injury or damage. When handling the accumulator, always do as follows. G Do not disassemble the accumulator. G Do not bring it near flame or dispose of it in fire. G Do not make holes in it or weld it. G Do not hit it, roll it, or subject it to any impact. G When disposing of the accumulator, the gas must be released. Please contact your Komatsu distribu- tor to have this work carried out. The machine is equipped with an accumulator in the control cir- cuit.
The accumulator in the control circuit is a device to store pressure, and when this accumulator is installed, it is possible to operate the control circuit for a short time even after the engine is stopped. Therefore, it is possible to lower the work equipment under its own weight by operating the control lever in the direction to lower the work equipment. The accumulator is installed in the position shown in the dia- gram on the right. METHOD OF RELEASING PRESSURE IN CONTROL CIRCUIT ON MACHINE EQUIPPED WITH ACCUMULATOR 1. Lower the work equipment to the ground, then close the crusher or other attachment. 2. Stop the engine. 3.
Turn the key in the starting switch to the ON position again to let electric current flow in the circuits. 4. Set the safety lock lever to the FREE position, then operate the work equipment control levers and attach- ment control pedal (if equipped) backwards and forwards, and to the right and left to the full stroke to release the pressure in the control circuit. 5. Set the safety lock lever to the LOCK position to lock the control levers and attachment control pedal. 6. Turn the starting switch to the OFF position. 3-40 WARNING
