Do not smoke when servicing air condition- ers or wherever refrigerant gas may be present. 1. Start the engine and run the engine at high idle. 2. Set the air conditioning system to maximum cooling. Turn the fan to high speed. 3. Allow the air conditioning system to stabilize for two minutes.

To check the system for refrigerant, feel suction line (3) and discharge line (2). If the system contains refrigerant, the discharge line will be warmer than the suction line.
