Handbook 652 Body Electrical Diagnosis Aluminum Wire Aluminum is used in parts of the wire harness to reduce weight. Aluminum wire is indicated by lavender-colored wire insulation and lavender color in the EWD. Harness Aluminum wire can be found in the following areas: • Front / Rear Door • Power Window Switch • Power Window Regulator Motor • Door Lock Motor • Back Door • Door Lock Motor • Rear Wiper Motor The aluminum wire is similar to copper in that it is stranded wire, connector part numbers are the same regardless of copper or aluminum, and the gauge of the wiring is the same as copper.
