5 BATTERIES Storage of batteries XF 95 series 3.3 STORAGE FOR MORE THAN FOUR WEEKS If the batteries will not be used for more than four weeks, the following measures should be taken: 1. Remove the batteries from the vehicle and store them in a frost-free, dry, cool and well-ventilated room. 2. Check the charging condition of the batteries regularly, at least once every four weeks. See ‘Inspection and adjustment’. If the voltage falls below 12.4 volts, or if the relative density of the electrolyte in one or more of the cells is less than 1.23 kg/dm 3 , the battery must be charged. 3. Limit the storage period to a maximum of three months.
The longer the period of storage, the greater the permanent loss of capacity. 4 3-2 200303
