Handbook 752 Air Conditioning and Climate Control SRS Circuits • SRS-related circuits have bright yellow wire harnesses and connectors. • Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS) are designed to deploy only in response to a significant frontal or side impact. To prevent accidental deployment: • Disconnect the ground (negative) cable from the battery and wait for up to 90 seconds before performing any repairs. • Before disconnecting the battery cable, record radio presets, auto A/C panel settings and the display of any system fault codes. Working on the A/C can require removal of dash pad and airbag assembly. See Vehicle Repair Manual before disassembling.
Warning Hybrid High-Voltage Circuits • Hybrid vehicles contain high-voltage circuits identified by orange wiring and their components are labeled “High Voltage”. • These circuits are “ boosted ” and carry up to 650 volts A/C and 125 amps. • Careless contact with these circuits can cause electrocution. Be aware that the effects of 4+ Amps on the human body can cause fatal heart paralysis and 5+ Amps will cause tissue to burn resulting in the fatal destruction of vital organs. • Do not attempt to service these circuits unless you are properly trained and qualified. 6 Technical Training
