OM3214 Operation - Section 32 Operator Cab and Controls Page 32-7 Hoist Control Lever Hoist control lever (3, Figure 32-7) is a four-position, hand-operated lever located between the operator seat and the center console. Override Switch Override switch (9, Figure 32-7) is spring-loaded to the OFF posi- tion. When pushed inward and held, this switch has several uses. Refer to Safety, Section 20, When Dumping, and Section 30, Dumping, for complete details concern- ing this control. CONSOLE SWITCHES AND CONTROLS 1. The override switch permits the operator to move the truck forward when the selector switch is in FORWARD, the dump body is raised, and the brakes are released.
Ashtray Ashtray (4, Figure 32-7) is used for extinguishing and depositing smoking materials. DO NOT use for flam- mable materials, such as paper. Ensure that all fire ash is extinguished! Cigarette Lighter Only use the override switch in emergency situa- tions. Cigarette lighter (5, Figure 32-7) may be used for lighting cigars/cigarettes. 2. If the operator stops the truck on an uphill incline, the override switch can be used to set up the forward propulsion while the brakes are applied. As soon as the forward propulsion is felt, release the brakes. As the truck begins to move forward, release the override switch. Use caution with smoking materials!
This socket may also be used for a 12VDC power supply. Left-Hand Window Control Switch 3. The override switch deactivates the retard pedal function when the speed of the truck is below 5 kph (3 mph). Left-hand window control switch (6, Figure 32-7) is spring-loaded to the OFF position. Pushing the front of the switch raises the left side cab window. Pushing the rear of the switch lowers the window. 4. The override switch is also used to reset an elec- tric system fault when indicated by the red warn- ing light. Refer to Overhead Warning/Status Indicator Light Panel in this section.
Right-Hand Window Control Switch Right-hand window control switch (7, Figure 32-7) is spring-loaded to the OFF position. Pushing the front of the switch raises the right side cab window. Push- ing the rear of the switch lowers the window. Retard Speed Control (RSC) Switch Retard speed control switch (11, Figure 32- 7) turns the system off or on. Push the knob in to turn the system off, and pull the knob out to turn the system on. Engine Shutdown Switch Engine shutdown switch (8, Figure 32-7) is used to turn the engine off.
