SAFETY SAFETY MACHINE OPERATION OPERATION 2 CHECKS BEFORE OPERATION When carrying out the checks, move the machine to a wide area where there are no obstructions, and operate slowly. Do not allow anyone near the machine. q Check that the movement of the machine matches the display on the control pattern card. If it does not match, replace it immediately with the correct control pattern card. q Check the operation of the gauges and equipment, and check the operation of the bucket, arm, boom, travel system, swing system, and steering system. q Check for any abnormality in the sound of the machine, vibration, heat, smell, or gauges; check also that there is no leakage of oil or fuel.
q If any abnormality is found, carry out repairs immediately. SAFETY RULES FOR CHANGING MACHINE DIRECTIONS q Before traveling, position the upper structure so that the sprocket (1) is at the rear of the operator's cab. If the sprocket (1) is at the front of the operator's cab, the machine makes a movement reverse to the control lever movement (for exam- ple, forward becomes reverse, and left becomes right). Be careful to avoid such a reverse movement of the machine. q Before travelling, check again that there is no one in the sur- rounding area, and that there are no obstacles. q Before travelling, sound the horn to warn people in the area. q Always operate the machine only when seated.
q Always fasten your seat belt. 2-23
