17. GUIDES TO MAINTENANCE Pre- and post-work checks: Before starting work in mud, rain, snow or at seashore, check plugs and valves for tightness. Wash the machine immediately after the work to protect components from rusting. Lubricate components more frequently than usual. Be sure to lubricate work equipment pins daily if they are submerged in water. Dusty sites: When working at the jobsites, do as follows: l Use the dust indicator to check the air cleaner for clogging. Clean the air cleaner element at shorter intervals than specified. l Clean the radiator core frequently to avoid clogging.
l Clean electrical components, especially the starting motor and alternator, to avoid accumulation of dust. l Clean and replace the fuel filter frequently. Avoid mixing oils: Never mix oils of different brands. If you have only oil which is a different brand from the one that is used in the machine, do not add it but replace all the oil. 3-4
