Peterbilt Medium Duty — Safety Restraint Belts

SEATS AND RESTRAINTS 1 above the speedometer/tachometer (see "Seat Belt, Fasten" on page 3-23). Lap/Shoulder Belt 5. Pull belt to check for proper fastening and adjustment, as follows: The combination lap-shoulder belt is equipped with a locking mechanism. The system adjusts automatically to a person's size and movements as long as the pull on the belt is slow. Pull shoulder section to make sure belt fits snugly across the chest and pelvis. Hard braking or a collision locks the belt. The belt will also lock when driving up or down a steep hill or in a sharp curve. There should be less than 1 inch (25 mm) gap between the body and the belt. To fasten the belt:

The shoulder belt must be positioned over the shoulder, it must never rest against the neck or be worn under the arm. 1. Grasp the belt tongue. 2. Pull belt in a continuous slow motion across your chest and lap. Make sure any slack is wound up on the retractor and that the belt is not twisted. 3. Insert belt tongue into buckle on inboard side of seat. To unfasten the belt: 4. Push down until the tongue is securely locked with an audible click. 1. Push in the release button on the buckle. 2. The belt will spring out of the buckle. 1-22 Y53-6060-1C1 (03/17)
