The intervals at which the air cleaner requires servicing depend on the specific operating conditions encountered. Clogged air filters may cause black smoke and reduce power. A check should be made from time to time to see that the fastening elements securing the air cleaner to the intake manifold seal the connection tightly. Any ingress of unfiltered air is liable to cause a high rate of cylinder and piston wear. 2.2.34. Electrical equipment 1) Alternator The alternator is fitted with integral silicon rectifiers.
A transistorized regulator mounted on the alternator body interior limits the alternator voltage. The alternator should not be operated except with the regulator and battery connected in circuit to avoid damage to the rectifier and regulator.
