Youth unemployment in South Africa Statistics South Africa, Quarterly Labour Force Survey, Q1:2026 60.9% 45.6% 39.2% unemployment rate, ages 15-24 NEET rate, ages 15-34 (not in employment, education or of young females aged 15-24 years were NEET, while men is at 36% training) 5.6 million young people (15-34) were employed in Q1:2026, against 4.7 million unemployed and 10.6 million outside the labour force. 03
