STARTING AND DRIVING Brake systems Warning! Brake system The brake systems consist of foot brake and EPB, where the foot brake is used to reduce the speed and EPB is used to prevent the vehicle from moving when stopped and start smoothly. In addition to EPB, the vehicle is also equipped with Auto Hold. When Auto Hold is enabled and when the vehicle is stationary at a traffic light or on a slope, the vehicle is hold automatically without requiring you to depress the brake pedal. The brake is released automatically to assist the driver start smoothly. VESPER ■ The braking performance can be significantly reduced after the brake pad reaches the wear limit.
In that case, replace the brake pad as soon as possible. ■ After washing the car or after the vehicle is wading, depress the brake pedal lightly for several times to dry the brake. Otherwise, the braking performance may be reduced by water immersion, which may lead to personal injury in case of emergency. Note! Foot brake The foot brake is assisted by electronic power assist steering system, which improves the safety and reliability of the brake. If the operating conditions (e.g. unfastening the seat belt or opening the driver's door, etc. after the brake pedal is released) are not met, the Auto Hold function will be exited and EPB will be activated automatically. Warning!
Do not place foot on the brake pedal while driving. Failure to follow this can cause wear and overheating of the brake parts and prolong the braking distance. The brake pad wear indicator induces a high frequency squeal noise when the brake pad is getting to the minimum safe thickness. If you hear a consistent high frequency squeal noise while braking or freewheeling, and also the noise does not disappear, stop the vehicle at a safe place, check the brake pad and contact a Lynk & Co Center. Symbol in instrument cluster If this symbol remains illuminated, it indicates that the brake fluid level is too low. Stop the vehicle in a safe place immediately and contact a Lynk & Co Center.
