Connecting the USB/Ethernet cable For the USB interface model, connect the USB cable, for the Ethernet interface model, connect the Ethernet cable to the printer. When Ethernet cables are installed outdoors, make sure devices without proper surge protection are cushioned by being connected through devices that do have surge protection. Otherwise, the devices can be damaged by lightning. Never attempt to connect a standard telephone line cable to the 10/100BASE-T LAN connector. CAUTION 1 Put your finger on the groove in the upper part of the rear cover, and pull it backward to remove it. Groove 2 For the USB interface model, connect the USB cable to the connector, as shown below.
