Direct connection to an aerial LAN cable located outside may cause induced lightning to damage devices. When you use such cables, connect via devices that protect against surges. Do not plug an ordinary telephone line into the Ethernet connector. 1 Make sure the power is turned off for both the printer and the host computer. 2 For the USB interface model, connect the USB cable to the connector. For the Ethernet interface model, connect the Ethernet cable to the connector until it clicks.
