1 Note: Check the tyre pressure when the tyres are cold. – After adjusting the tyre pressures, always screw the caps onto the valves and observe the information on the tyre monitoring sys- tem. 2 Tyre pressure for partial load. 3 Vehicle-dependent: comfort tyre pressure for partial load. – Always use the tyre pressure specified on the sticker. Never exceed the maximum tyre pres- sure which is given on the sidewall of the tyre. 4 Tyre pressure for full load. Data on the sticker (type II) → Fig. 147 : WARNING A B Tyre pressure for the tyres on the rear axle. Tyre pressure for the tyres on the front axle.
If the tyre pressure is too low or too high, this may cause the tyre to suddenly lose air or the tyre to burst while the vehicle is in motion! This can cause serious accidents and fatal injuries. 1 Note: Check the tyre pressure when the tyres are cold. 2 Tyre pressure for partial load. ● If the tyre pressure is too low, it is possible that the tyre temperature will increase to such an extent when driving that the tread peels off and the tyre bursts. The specified values of the original tyre pressure are marked on a sticker and the data listed on it are applicable in both winter and summer. The sticker is located below the inside of the driver door pillar. → Fig.
148 3 Tyre pressure for full load. ● Excessive speeds and overloading of the ve- hicle can cause overheating, sudden tyre damage including tyre bursts and detach- ment of the tread. The appearance of the sticker may differ be- tween vehicles. ● Whether the tyre pressure is too high or too low, the tyres will wear prematurely and the car will not handle well. An incorrect tyre pressure can adversely affect driving performance and cause tyre wear to ac- celerate and to burst. → . When driving tyre pressure is particularly important, tyre pressure does not meet the requirements will aggravate tyre wear, tyre easy to burst.
● Check tyre pressures regularly, at least once a month, and before every long journey. ● Always adapt the tyre pressure to the corre- sponding load level. Comfort tyre pressure Depending on the vehicle, the tyre pressure sticker may show details of a comfort tyre pres- sure → Fig. 147 3 . The comfort tyre pressure al- lows increased driving comfort. Fuel consump- tion may increase when driving with comfort tyre pressure. ● Never reduce the increased tyre pressure of warm tyres. NOTICE ● When attaching the tyre pressure gauge, en- sure that you do not position it at an angle to the valve stem. Otherwise, the valve can be damaged if the tyre pressure gauge is not used with due care.
Check tyre pressure – Check tyre pressures regularly, at least once a month. ● Missing of the valve cap or improper fitting of the valve cap may damage the tyre valve, al- ways use the same size valve cover as the orig- inal one and fit it correctly. – Always check the tyre pressure when the tyres are cold. The specified tyre pressure applies to cold tyres . Tyre pressure is always higher in warm tyres than it is in cold tyres. For this rea- son, never reduce the pressure in warm tyres to adjust the tyre pressure. Underinflated tyres will result in increased fuel consumption. – Tyre pressure should be adjusted according to the load condition 4 . Owner's manual 190
