Safety 2.4 Precautions for maintenance Handling high-pressure hoses z If oil or fuel leaks from high-pressure hoses, it may cause fire or defective operation, which may lead to serious injury or property damage. If any loose bolts are found, stop work and tighten to the specified torque. z If any damaged hoses are found, stop operations immedi- ately and contact your KOMATSU distributor. z Replace all hoses every 2 years at the latest. The shelf life of the hose should not exceed 2 years. z Hoses must be replaced as soon as the following damage is noticeable:
Ѓ damage to the outer layer through to the intermediate layer, Ѓ brittleness in the outer layer, Ѓ distortions in pressurised or unpressurised state not con- forming with the original shape of the installed hose, Ѓ leakages, Ѓ damage to the hose fittings or to the connection between fittings and hose, Ѓ storage damage. z When replacing the hoses, always replace the O-rings, gas- kets, and other such parts at the same time. z See "Periodic replacement of safety critical parts (4-19)". Waste materials To prevent pollution, pay careful attention to the method of dis- posing of waste materials. z Always put oil drained from your machine in containers.
Never drain oil directly onto the ground or dump into the sewage system, rivers, the sea, or lakes. z Obey appropriate laws and regulations when disposing of harmful objects such as oil, fuel, coolant, solvent, filters, and batteries. GK032083 WA150-5H – VEAM934100 2-35
