OM3215 10/04 Operating Instructions - Section 32 Page 32-9 To adjust the RSC control, pull switch (11) ON and start with dial (12) rotated toward fastest speed while driving truck at desired maximum speed. Relax throttle pedal to let truck coast and turn RSC Adjusting Dial slowly counterclockwise until Dynamic Retarding is ac- tivated. Dynamic Retarding will now be activated auto- matically anytime the “set” speed is reached, the RSC switch is ON, and throttle pedal is released. Data Store Button This button (19, Figure 32-6) is for use by qualified maintenance personnel to record in memory a “snap- shot” of the Statex III drive system.
Passenger Seat The passenger seat (16, Figure 32-6) is mounted on top of the right hand portion of the Center Console structure. With RSC switch ON and dial adjusted, the system will function as follows: As truck speed increases to the “set” speed and throttle pedal released, dynamic re- tarding will apply. As truck speed tries to increase, the amount of retarding effort will automatically adjust to keep the selected speed. When truck speed de- creases, the retarding effort is reduced to maintain the selected speed. If truck speed continues to decrease to approximately 3 mph (4.8 kph) below “set” speed, Dy- namic Retarding will turn off automatically.
If truck speed must be reduced further, the operator can turn the Adjust Dial to a new setting or depress the foot op- erated retard pedal. The area beneath the passenger seat provides a cabi- net for various 24 VDC electrical components. Refer to “Section D” for service involving any of these compo- nents. Service Engine Light (Blue) The service engine light (20, Figure 32-6) will illuminate if a problem is detected by the electronic engine monitoring system. Electric propulsion and dynamic retarding will still be available.
If the operator depresses the foot operated retard pedal and the retard effort called for is greater than that from the automatic system, the foot pedal retard will override RSC. If this light is ON, notify maintenance personnel so they can diagnose and repair the problem the next time the truck is in the shop for repairs or at the next PM (Pre- ventative Maintenance) interval. Statex III Propulsion System Diagnostic Connector This 9-pin connector (13, Figure 32-6) is for use by qualified personnel to access G.E. STATEX III electric propulsion diagnostic information and data. Refer to “Section E” for additional information.
Payload Meter The Payload Meter (1, Figure 32-7) is used to provide management with operational data such as tonnage hauled and cycle times. The download connector (2, Figure 32-7) is used with a special cable to allow the Payload Meter (1) to communicate with a Portable Computer. Komatsu Engine Quantum Connector This connector (17, Figure 32-6) is for use by qualified personnel to access engine diagnostic information for the QUANTUM system. Refer to engine manufacturer’s service publications for troubleshooting information. Refer to Section 60, Optional Equipment, for a more complete description of the payload meter and its func- tions.
Komatsu Engine Cense Connector This 3-pin connector (14, Figure 32-6) is for use by qualified personnel to access engine diagnostic infor- mation for the CENSE system. Refer to engine manu- facturer’s service publications for troubleshooting information. Unused Connector This connector (18, Figure 32-6) location is not used for this model truck. Modular Mining Port Conector This connector (15, Figure 32-6) location is used if the optional Modular Mining System is installed on the truck. FIGURE 32-7. PAYLOAD METER III 1. Payload Meter III 2.
