Komatsu — ENGINE SHUTDOWN SWITCH

Operation - Section 3 OM3017.2 Page 3-12 Operator Cab and Controls (5) HOIST CONTROL VALVE (6) SELECTOR SWITCH The hoist control valve is a four position ("DOWN", "FLOAT", "HOLD", "RAISE") hand operated device lo- cated to the left of the operator seat. The Selector Switch is mounted on a console to the right of the operator’s seat which includes the Selector Switch handle, an Engine Idle Switch and an Engine Shutdown Switch. The Selector Switch is a three position switch ("FOR"- "N"-"REV") which controls the directional motion of the truck. When the Selector Switch handle is straight forward, it is in the center "N" position and is in "Neu- tral".

Handle must be in neutral to start the truck. The operator can select Forward drive by moving the handle left to "FOR" or Reverse drive by moving handle right to "REV". FIGURE 3-2. Pull the lever to the rear ("RAISE") to actuate hoist circuit. (Releasing the lever anywhere during "hoist up" will place the body in "HOLD" at that position.) 2. Raise engine RPM to accelerate hoist speed. FIGURE 3-3. SELECTOR SWITCH CONSOLE 3.

Reduce engine RPM as last stage of hoist cylinder begins to extend and let engine go to low idle as last stage reaches half-extension. 4. Release hoist lever as last stage reaches full exten- sion. (7) ENGINE SHUTDOWN SWITCH 5. After dumped material clears body, lower body to frame before moving forward. This Engine Shutdown Switch is a spring-loaded push button con- nected to a fuel solenoid on the engine, and must be held down until the engine stops. In certain "fault" conditions, the engine may not shut down with the keyswitch as it normally should. This switch must then be used to shut down the engine. To lower body: Move hoist lever forward to "DOWN" position and release.

When lever is released, hoist control valve returns to "FLOAT" position allowing the body to return to frame. NOTE: For more specific details regarding proper dumping procedures, refer to "DUMPING" in the "Operating Instructions" section of this hand- book . NOTE: This switch is Engine Shutdown ONLY. The keyswitch must still be turned "OFF" to turn off 24VDC accessories and activate the hydraulic bleed- down sequence .
