ES300 — OUTLINE OF NEW FEATURES 5 8. Lighting The construction of the sensor of the automatic light control system has been changed. Also, the control circuit of this system has been integrated in the integration relay. The daytime running light relay, which controls the daytime running light system, has been integrated in the integration relay. The daytime running light system is standard equipment on all models. A headlight off delay system has been adopted to maintain the headlights illuminated for a prescribed length of time after the occupants have exited from the vehicle.
An interior light control system that illuminates the dome light and the illumination light around the ignition key cylinder when the doors are unlocked has been adopted. 9. Air Conditioning The compressor has been changed from the previous 10PA to the 10S type to realize a compact and light- weight compressor. 10. Power Window System An one-touch auto up-and-down function has been adopted to fully open or close the windows of the front doors automatically. A jam protection function, which prevents one’s hands or other objects from becoming caught in the door window, has been adopted.
A “door key-linked window operation” function has been adopted to open and close the power windows of the front doors and the moon roof simultaneously. The basic construction and operation of these function are the same as in the ’98 LS400. For details, see the 1998 model New Car Features (Pub. No. NCF151U). However, on the ’99 ES300, the only power window that operates under these functions is the front door window. The control of these functions is effected by the integration relay. 11. SRS Airbag A front airbag sensor that detects the impact of a frontal collision has been newly added to realize a 3-sensor type airbag system.

Cruise Control System The cruise control ECU has been made more compact by discontinuing the backup power source through the adoption of an EEPROM (Electrical Erasable Programmable ROM) and by integrating the circuit. 13. Moon Roof A moon roof includes “one-touch slide open and close” and “jam-protection” functions.
