Engine Auto-Start/Stop System Turning Auto-Start On Auto-Start Behavior the oil temperature drops to a predetermined temperature threshold. This temperature can be adjusted by your nearest dealer. When the Auto-Start system is enabled and running, the vehicle's parking lamps will be illuminated. The engine must be turned OFF to enable the Auto-Start feature. You cannot enable Auto-Start while the engine is running. The Auto-Start system can be turned on by pressing and holding the enable switch for 3 to 10 seconds after all of the safety interlocks are satisfied. The driver information display will count down "3... 2... 1...

The Auto-Start feature maintains battery charge to the main and auxiliary batteries in addition to maintaining the engine oil temperature. When the engine is shut off and the Auto-Start system is turned on, the vehicle will start the engine when battery percent state-of-charge (SOC) drops to a predetermined level. Once the battery charge returns to normal, the system will turn the engine off. If the system cannot restart the engine within three attempts, it will log a fault code, display a message to the driver and will disable itself. Battery SOC can be found in the "Gauges" menu of the driver information screen.

The Auto-Start feature will not operate the engine if it determines it is unsafe to do so. Some examples of these situations are hood open, transmission in gear, clutch engaged, park brake not set, or if an engine or emissions fault is detected. The EAS system also has the ability to monitor engine oil temperature.
