PACCAR Inc. Y53-1255-1C1 — Auto-Start Behavior

Engine Auto-Start/Stop System than the time allowed by the EIST system. This feature is only available with a non-greenhouse gas (GHG) credit EIST system. Auto-Start will sound the vehicle's horn with two short honk 5 seconds before the system starts the engine. The vehicle's horn sounds only if a door has been opened after the Auto-Start System is engaged. This is to prevent disturbing a sleeping passenger. When the EAS is active it will operate the engine at a higher-than-normal idle speed, approximately 1,000 rpm. This allows the vehicle's batteries to recharge more quickly. It also places a lower load on the aftertreatment system, requiring less frequent regens.

Pressing the DISABLE button will also interrupt the Auto-Start system and prevent the engine from automatically starting. 3 Once the operator turns the ignition switch to the ON position, the Auto-Start system will de-activate, allowing the truck to be driven without shutting the engine off. The Auto-Start feature will also deactivate if the engine does not start. If your vehicle is also equipped with an Engine Idle Shutdown Timer (EIST), the Auto-Start system will override EIST and may run the engine longer (08/2016) Y53-1255-1C1 3-7
