OM2209 Warnings and Cautions - Section 22 Page 22-1 WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS The following pages give an explanation of the Warning, Caution, and Service Instruction plates and decals attached to the HD1500-5 Truck. The plates and decals listed here are typical of this truck model, but because of customer options, individual trucks may have plates and decals that are different from those shown here. The plates and decals must be kept clean and legible. If any decal or plate becomes unable to be read or dam- aged, it should be replaced with a new one.
A grade/speed retard plate showing retarding capaci- ties is located on the left front post of the operator's cab and provides the recommended maximum speeds to be used when descending various grades with a loaded truck. A warning decal is located at the lower right side of the instrument panel and below the key switch. The warning stresses the importance of reading the oper- ator's manual before operation. A warning decal is located to the far right of the instrument panel and below the auxiliary brake switch. Depress the center button to apply the auxiliary brake. The red lamp will illuminate. Pull the button out to release the auxiliary brake; the light will turn off.
Refer to Operating Instructions, Section 30, Hauling/ Retarder Operation, for complete details regarding the use of the information on this chart. Always refer to the decal in operator's cab. This decal may change with optional truck equipment such as: tire sizes, etc. When the auxiliary brake switch is activated, full, unmodulated hydraulic brake pressure is applied to all wheels. The parking brake is also applied. Never apply the auxiliary brake switch when the truck is moving, except as an emergency mea- sure.
