Coolants meeting these specifications require addition of supplemental coolant additives (SCA’s), formulated for heavy-duty diesel engines, for protection against corrosion and cylinder liner erosion and pitting. If Total Hardness is higher than the above given specification and all other parameters are within the given specifications, the water must be softened before using in cooling system. Water Quality: Ethylene Glycol Concentrate (Antifreeze): Distilled, de-ionized, or demineralized water is preferred for use in cooling systems. Mineral (hard/tap) water should NEVER be put in a cooling system unless first tested.
