2 System Overview Software As with any modern electronic product, the various units contain software in order to operate. All units ship from the factory with the latest software. Units in the field may be upgraded to take advantage of new features when software updates become available. For information about software revisions and upgrades see the following locations: Software Revision Guide - Shows current and past software revisions. See “Appendix A” of this manual. Software Update Guide - Details the software update process for older units. Numerous special cables are required.
Part number MANSUGYM01 BY2 Classic BY2 Classic Control System is a hybrid of electronic and mechanical technology. The engine throttle is controlled electronically and the basic engine data is displayed digitally inside the tachometer. The gear shift is accomplished with marine mechanical control cables. All additional gauges are traditional round two or three inch style and work from analog signals. The speedometer, if present, works from a pitot tube. The advanced digital information is displayed on the tachometer and details about that information are covered in “Section 4 - Gauges” in this manual.
