Organizations and standards 3.1 Organizations Organizations and committees Listed below are the organizations and committees that have been nominated to publish technical specifications and standards for application internationally and in the European Economic Area. The official publication languages are French, English and German. IEC German: Internationale Elektrotechnische Kommission English: International Electrotechnical Commission 83 states were members of the International Electrotechnical Commission in 2016.
These "National Commitees" nominate their experts from industry, government agencies, trade associations and scientific institutions to participate in the electrotechnical standardization and conformity assessment work performed by the IEC. A list of the member states organized in the IEC can be found in the appendix (Page 343).
