EPSON — Notes on handling substrate

L-4733A/L-4733AW Operation Guide Safety Instructions and Notes on Usage Notes on handling white ink cartridges White Ink Maintenance Sedimentation (particles in the ink sinking to the bottom) can occur easily in white ink. If you use the white ink while sedimentation has occurred, print quality may decline and problems may occur in the press. You need to perform press maintenance to maintain optimum print quality. Mixing the White Ink Cartridge To prevent sedimentation, mix the white ink in the ink cartridge when the press starts. A message is displayed on the touch panel when you need to mix the white ink cartridge.

U “Procedure for Mixing the White Ink Cartridge” on page 230 Switching the white ink cartridge and the storage liquid If you do not start the press more than once a week, change the white ink and the storage liquid before shutting down the press to protect the print head. The storage liquid prevents sedimentation in the print head. Use the touch panel to switch the ink. U “If you do not use white ink more than once a week” on page 231 Notes when not using the press When white ink is selected, maintenance is performed automatically while printing or when printing has been paused for three hours. Make sure you close the covers as maintenance cannot be performed when the covers are open.

When covers are opened within 10 minutes before performing maintenance an error is displayed informing you that a cover is open. Notes on storage Note the following points if you do not use white ink cartridges for a long time after purchasing the press. ❏ Store the cartridges flat (on an even surface). If the cartridges are stored vertically, you may not be able to clear sedimentation even after performing maintenance. ❏ If you store the cartridge for a long time, make sure you shake it before installation. See the following for information on how to shake the ink. U “Replacing Ink Cartridges” on page 228 Notes on handling substrate ❏ We recommend using substrate tested by Epson.

Before using substrate that has not been tested, make sure that the print result and quality are not compromised and the press is not damaged. Note the following points when handling the substrate. 16
