Head airbag ● No accessories should be installed on the door! Please refer to at the start of the chapter on page 37. ● Shade screens shall not be installed on doors and Windows and shall be approved by Volkswagen dealership. ● When nothing is fixed on the visor (e.g., ball- point pen, etc.), pull the visor out and turn to the side window to block the sun. The location of the head airbag is marked with the letters “AIRBAG”. – Child seat type 43 – Basic information on installing and using a child seat 44 – Child seat securing systems 45 – Fix the child seat with lower fixed point (ISOFIX) 46 – Fix the child seat with top retainer strap (Top Tether) 48 – Fix the child seat with seat belt 48 The area delimited by the red dotted line → Fig. 33 is the coverage area (expansion range) when the head airbag is triggered. There- fore, no objects shall be placed or fixed in this area → . When a side impact occurs, the system triggers the head airbag on the collision side.
In the event of a side impact, the head airbag provides protection for the front seat and the outside rear seat on the impact side, reducing the risk of injury to the occupant. Child seats reduce the risk of injury to young chil- dren in the event of an accident. Therefore, when travelling with children, be sure to keep them in a child seat! When the vehicle collision triggers the airbag, the airbag instantly expands at high speed. WARNING Please note: – Child seats can be divided into different groups based on the child's height, age and weight. ● There must be no object within the expan- sion range of the head airbag to obstruct the expansion of the airbag.
– The child seat can be fixed to the car by differ- ent fastening devices. ● Do not fasten any item to the head airbag cover or its range of action. For safety, child seats should always be mounted in the rear seat → page 44, Basic information on installing and using a child seat . ● The occupants of the front seat and the out- side seat of the back seat must not hold chil- dren, pets or any other objects, otherwise, it will occupy the expansion space of the air bag. Both adults and children must obey this rule.
We recommend that you use the child seats in our original accessory series, as the child seats in this series are designed for our vehicles and ap- proved by our company for use in our vehicles. Volkswagen dealership has child seats suitable for this car. ● The original coat and cap hook in the car can only be used to hang light clothing, clothing pockets do not load heavy or sharp objects.
