HP — OmniBook 3000 User's Handbook

Using the Infrared Port The infrared (IR) port is on the back panel. It provides wireless, serial communication between the OmniBook and other IR-equipped devices such as printers and other OmniBooks. Note By default, the IR port is not enabled. You must install the appropriate IR driver and enable it in BIOS Setup. Refer to the Reference Guide and the drivers’ Readme files for more information. • Line up the OmniBook’s IR port and the other IR port in as straight a line as possible. The two ports should be no more than 1 meter apart, with no obstructions in between. Noise from nearby equipment can cause transmission errors.

• To check the status of communications, there is an Infrared Monitor in the Control Panel. 26
